Peoria Economic Development
Home MenuLocation Advantages
Peoria is strategically located in the northwest Greater Phoenix Metro and boasts strong and accessible transportation, water, and power infrastructure, making it an ideal location for economic growth.
Ground Transportation
Peoria is crisscrossed by four state highways providing easy and quick connections to the rest of the region as well as convenient access to Interstates 10 and 17, which connect to multiple large and mid-sized metropolitan areas in California, Texas, the Southwest, and Mexico. Peoria has 1-2 day trucking times from the Port of Long Beach and Port of Los Angeles while also being approximately a 6-hour drive from Los Angeles, 5 hours from San Diego, and 4 hours from Las Vegas.
Rail
The Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad (a portion of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad system) has a main line that runs through the southern area of the city. The availability of rail-served sites affords Peoria the opportunity to compete for industries needing rail service, including manufacturers and distributors.
Peoria is a short distance from the planned BNSF Intermodal Hub, which is anticipated to be a massive 3,500-acre freight and logistics center to be built in neighboring Waddell, AZ. The expected completion date is 2028.
Additionally, BNSF has an existing intermodal facility just minutes away in Glendale, AZ.
Air
The nearest commercial airport is Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, which is 30 minutes from Downtown Peoria. Sky Harbor has flights to more than 100 domestic destinations and 23 international destinations, with 1,200+ aircraft operations daily.
Peoria is also close to the Phoenix-Goodyear Airport, a fast-growing hub for cargo and logistics, as well as general aviation. Featuring an 8,500 ft runway, Goodyear Airport is able to accommodate aircraft of all sizes.
